What does 503A licensed mean?

503A refers to a section of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act that allows licensed pharmacies to prepare compounded medications pursuant to a valid patient-specific prescription. Compounded medications are prescription preparations created by a licensed pharmacist to meet the specific needs of an individual patient when commercially available products are not appropriate or available. Compounded medications are prepared pursuant to a valid patient-specific prescription and are not FDA-approved products.

How do you ensure patient privacy and prescription security?

SmartPharmaRX maintains administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect patient information and prescription records. Access to patient information is limited to authorized personnel and managed in accordance with applicable privacy and security requirements.

What quality standards does SmartPharmaRX follow when compounding medications?

SmartPharmaRX follows applicable USP compounding standards and state board of pharmacy requirements. Additional standards may apply depending on the type of preparation and applicable regulations.

How are compounded medications tested for safety and accuracy?

In which states is SmartPharmaRX currently licensed?

How do state-level restrictions affect ordering?

Compounding and dispensing regulations vary by state. SmartPharmaRX only dispenses medications in states where it is appropriately licensed and where the prescribed medication may be dispensed in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements.

How are orders processed?

Once a valid prescription is received, our pharmacy team reviews the order, verifies the required information and prepares the prescription in accordance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements. Patients and providers may be contacted if additional information is needed before processing can be completed.

How does shipping vary by state?

Shipping availability is limited to states where SmartPharmaRX is licensed and authorized to dispense medications. Shipping methods, delivery timelines and product availability may vary based on state requirements, prescription details and applicable regulations.

What happens if my state is pending licensure?

SmartPharmaRX can only dispense medications in states where the appropriate licensure requirements have been met. If your state is currently pending licensure, medications cannot be dispensed until all applicable licensing requirements have been satisfied.
